Why does the N°5 (G-MAXX) programme use the 8 kHz frequency whereas the G-Maxx detector itself works on 4.6 kHz?

- Because we thought the 4 kHz frequency seemed too low for simulating the G-Maxx effectively.
On these low frequencies, switching from 4.6 to 4 kHz is quite a significant change. On DEUS the performance of the G-Maxx can be better matched on the 8 kHz frequency (in fact between 7.6 and 7.8 kHz).
DEUS and its 22.5 cm coil will give better performance with coins on the 8 kHz frequency, rather than on 4 kHz.

So why did you decide on this 4 kHz frequency as the fourth available frequency?
Quite simply because it is good at searching for large masses, and in particular will be perfect for a forthcoming (2010) new optional coil, which will be very specific, and especially suited to searching for large, very deep masses (1 to 3 metres deep).
